Bi-Monthly Oct 2023

It's been over a year since we started the
“Fin-Tech Leaders” journey...

"Fin-Tech Leaders" is an inaugural transatlantic program to bridge Berlin's striving finance and tech scene with the expansive opportunities of the leading US market. Many of you joined us, participated in our webinars & workshops, attended the events in Berlin and the US, and played a crucial role in making this program successful. Here are some highlights from this transformative year.

The US is a significant player in the FinTech world. Home to the world's largest economy, it naturally attracts innovation, capital, and talent. Here's why the US holds obvious importance for Berlin's striving FinTech sector:

• Innovation Hub: The US's history of technological breakthroughs makes it a hotbed for FinTech innovation and new ideas.

• Access to Capital: Berlin's FinTechs can access a wide range of eager US investors, from angels to large venture firms, ready to back Europe's next big FinTech success.

• Expansive Market: The vast and diverse US market challenges Berlin startups to cater to diverse needs, urging them to innovate and expand rapidly.

• Networking Opportunities: US FinTech events offer Berlin startups chances to connect with industry leaders and build essential partnerships.

• Competitive Spirit: The US market propels Berlin's FinTechs to compete fiercely, ensuring they stay at the forefront of the industry.

In essence, the US is not just a market; it's an ecosystem teeming with opportunities, challenges, and experiences that can propel Berlin's FinTech space to global prominence.

With our mission to advance Berlin as a significant player in the global FinTech landscape, we showcased Berlin's strengths to a vast audience. More than 600 people - from banking, the payment sector, venture capital, FinTech entrepreneurs, enthusiasts, city representatives, and the German-American community - joined our events in FinTech hubs like New York, Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco.

About "Fin-Tech Leaders":

Launched by the Berlin Finance Initiative in June 2022, our US initiative is more than just a program; it is a vision. It is about international business cooperation, knowledge-building, and boosting the visibility of Berlin's finance and tech startup ecosystem in the US. Through this, we've grown a robust network, holding 7 major events with over 1,200 attendees and successfully expanding the “Fin-Tech Leaders” network to encompass more than 100 members.

What we have achieved:

• Our events, seminars, and partnerships have empowered Berlin-based FinTech startups with insights and tools vital for US market entry.

• We forged strong transatlantic connections with US partners and cities, engaging their networks of investors, banks, and other stakeholders.

• Berlin's role as Europe's premier FinTech hub has been reinforced, paving the way for deeper collaborations and strengthened relationships in the FinTech space.

The journey doesn't end here

While we've achieved much together within a year, the journey doesn't end here. Thinking globally is the key. Berlin's FinTech scene is dynamic and resilient, but we believe fostering international relationships will offer fresh perspectives and avenues for growth.

We are eager to continue this mission and are excited about the future prospects of "Fin-Tech Leaders" in the US. Share your thoughts, experiences, and suggestions with us. Reach out to me at alexander.daamen@berlin-finance-initiative.de. This would immensely help us to create new US activities and programs to bridge the gap across the Atlantic.

Many thanks to all we encountered on our journey and those we had the privilege of supporting in various ways toward their internationalization. Together, let's keep growing!
